True to form, the former president laced his comments with old grievances and false statements. Perhaps the most perplexing thing Mr. Trump said was that our elections are “third-world” (as in rigged or stolen) — all the while celebrating his primary victories. Huh? This won’t be the last time Donald Trump makes false statements about the 2020 election results specifically or the 2024 results generally. If what’s past truly is prologue, then buckle up. To the Editor: Why didn’t viable Democrats like Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer challenge President Biden and throw their hats in the ring for the primaries a year ago? What is the nature of the specific politics of Democrats challenging a Democratic incumbent? Mr. Biden is terrifyingly unpopular. Shouldn’t the Democratic Party have seen this coming and headed it off at the pass so Democrats would have a
better choice? Right now, we live in fear of a Trump dystopia. The rich can leave and buy second homes in Europe.
